We’re looking for a Social Media Coordinator (Volunteer Position) who is motivated, creative, and enthusiastic to help grow our online presence and engage our community.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Social Media Coordinator who is passionate about visual storytelling and community impact. You’ll be responsible for shaping how unearthD shows up online, crafting content that educates, inspires, and mobilizes our audience.
You don’t need formal experience, we are looking for motivation, creativity, and the willingness to grow your skills in a supportive, mission-driven space
What You’ll Do:
- Plan and Execute Campaigns: Support the design of social media content for events and initiatives (e.g., clothing swaps, workshops, clean-ups) from idea to post—brainstorm themes, create visuals, write captions, and coordinate publishing schedules.
- Design Custom Graphics: Use tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, or Photoshop to create branded visuals that reflect our voice and values. (No need to know all, familiarity with any is great!)
- Create Multi-Format Content: Craft posts, Instagram carousels, stories, reels, and digital flyers that bring our work and events to life.
- Contribute to Brand Development: Help improve and evolve unearthD’s brand guidelines, support the creation and consistency of visual elements like colour palettes, fonts, layout templates, iconography, and tone of voice.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with the team to ensure event promotions are cohesive, timely, and aligned with broader storytelling goals.
- Engage the Community: Schedule content, help manage our feed, and uplift community voices by spotlighting local events, partners, or grassroots projects.
Who You Are:
- You’re passionate about sustainability, climate justice, and community-building.
- You enjoy using social media as a tool for storytelling and impact.
- You’re proactive, collaborative, and always open to learning.
- You care about visual clarity, design, and maintaining a consistent brand voice.
- No experience needed—but a sample of your work would be appreciated (a past post, a Canva graphic, even a meme!)
Bonus (Not Required):
- Comfortable with Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator or similar design tools
- Interested in climate justice, youth organizing, or community-based change
- Photography or video editing skills for social content
- Interest in branding, event promotion, or content strategy
- Familiarity with content scheduling tools
