Our goal at unearthD is to foster a community of engaged citizens to work together towards a more sustainable and connected Markham. By weaving environmental education into fun community events, programs, and initiatives, we want to get people to meet their neighbours and engage in climate action in a way that’s practical and meaningful to them.

We make environmental education that’s practical but not preachy. Learning should lead to action, not anxiety. You don’t need to be a scientist to understand climate change, or have a policy background to engage with local government – we want to break down barriers that make climate action feel out of reach.

We’re turning passion into community action. We take a collaborative and supportive approach to leadership that recognizes that the most effective action happens when we work together. We support community members in uncovering their own ability to create change, whether that’s through organizing cleanups, starting a community garden, or hosting an environmental workshop.

We help you find your place and your people in the climate action movement. The suburbs can feel isolating, especially when it feels like you care about issues your neighbours don’t really talk about. We honour the diverse backgrounds and experiences that make our community stronger, knowing that the best solutions come from people who understand what it’s like to live, work, and care about the place we call home.
